Bohemian Blue takes you on a sophisticated and lively musical journey of Curious Covers with a Jazz twist, Jovial Jazz standards and  Latin Laments ( Latin tunes are sung in Spanish and Portuguese.

Our Jazz Set consists of  well known Jazz standards.  Our popular music set consists of old school tunes with a twist of a Jazz.  Our Latin repertoire consists of Brazilian tunes as well as other Latin Jazz Grooves from Cuba to Mexico.

 

We can play a mixture of  any combination of musical styles you

may require for your event, offering a Duo, Trio or Quartet.

John Bevin Jazz and blues pianist John Bevin has been a regular performer around Christchurch for 30 years playing in various combos performing anything from blues (Black Cat Bone),through to swing jazz and salsa ( Ritmo Latino) and funk (Wranglin). John has had numerous festival appearances performing with local and also overseas visiting artists including Russ Garcia the great American arranger and Peurto Rican percussionist Miguel Fuento.

Double Bassist Pete Flemming  is a graduate of Christchurch Jazz school and has been  playing professionally on the Christchurch Music scene in various jazz and Covers bands for many years.  He currently works in a variety of settings playing both double and electric bass as well a teaching music.

 

Double Bassist Mike Kime is graduate of the Christchurch Jazz School, Michael has been a professional musician for fifteen years and has played with many of New Zealand's finest musicians performing in Jazz, Classical and free improvisation settings. Michael is a founding member of Christchurch's celebrated Silencio Ensemble and has just completed the Christchurch Free Theatre production of Werner Fritsch’s “Hereafter” Michael has performed in concert halls and venues in America, Japan and Dubai.

 

 Steve Nichols  on Woodwind and Percussion .   Steve Nichols studied Jazz at the CPIT Jazz School. He performs over a variety of styles from orchestral, Jazz Big Band to Jazz combos & pop/rock. Performance credits include the ‘New Zealand Youth Jazz Orchestra’, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra’ and performers such as Don Burrows (AUS), Bobby Shew (USA), Dame Malvina Major (NZL) and Sir Howard Morrison (NZL). Stephen works as a music educator, performance & recording artist, and was the Musical Director/Arranger for Christchurch ‘Ritmo Latino’ band.

Past Member :

Pianist, Thomas Harris was originally a Classical Pianist and honed his skills busking on the streets of Italy. Tom spreads himself across many styles of music including Jazz, Classical, Funk, Latin, and Gypsy traditions and has a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Jazz at CPIT. Tom works professionally within the local music scene and is a musician of exceptional talent for his young years. Tom also plays the Accordion.
